Principal Architect Michael McKinley, AIA is the lead designer on every project and meets with clients throughout the design and construction. He established Michael McKinley and Associates in 1989 after working at several internationally known architecture firms in Boston and New York.
Michael received a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is the Chairman of the Stonington Architectural Review Board and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
He is licensed in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Florida.
When he isn’t designing, he can be found playing and composing traditional music on his wooden flute.

“The Material Girl,” Kathy Calnen, began her career as a television journalist and later worked as a writer and homes’ stylist for Coastal Living Magazine. Today, her research skills are an invaluable component of our firms’ interior design services. If there is an interior finish or material that would be perfect for a project, she’ll find it.
Kathy works with clients developing specifications for lighting, appliances, plumbing fixtures, flooring, paint colors, hardware, and furnishings. She maintains a healthy respect for our client’s tastes and lifestyles.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston College.
When she isn’t working on our client’s houses, she is at home working in her garden.
